Mainline 37-054 Loco OO gauge J72 0-6-0T LNER no 581   Description: J72* Tank Loco 0-6-0T LNER no 581  Mainline 37-054  OO Gauge Beautiful model, well detailed Wire handrails LNER livery Used, good condition with some defects. Split chassis drive - tested, working This loco was bought second hand c 1983.  I am unable to date it exactly.  The internal mechanism is mostly solid metal so the model is deceptively heavy despite plastic superstructure. The front coupler has been removed.  This is sometimes done for aesthetic reasons.  It would not be difficult to re-instate.  One buffer is missing.  Again, easy to put right. I don't think buffers and couplers will be hard to come by.  Some red paint eroded from front buffer beam. *On a technical point:- everywhere I have seen this loco listed it has the classification J72. However, a five minute delve into the loco books suggests that is actually a J71.  The numbering sequence doesn't seem right for it to be a J72.  J72s had a brass pot covering the safety valves - although this may have been a thing you could leave on or off, depending if you were shunting in the bad part of town. OK - I'm saddo!
